We analyse those elements that characterize entrepreneurial universities in a context of action-reaction such as changes in the environment which imply some type of threat, as financial threats, the assumption of a new culture that question the traditional role of the university as a somewhat conservative creator and transmitter of knowledge, the establishment of new structures, etc. For that purpose, we present a review of some of the indicator systems proposed by some OECD studies to characterize entrepreneurial universities. After capturing the entrepreneurial character of universities, we propose what we consider to be fundamental features of these kinds of institutions and associated them with indicators.
