Many of the problems that science and society are currently facing are inherently complex, thus demanding answers and solutions resulting from original combinations of different fields of knowledge. As a consequence, Science, Technology and Innovation studies are increasingly constituted by a diversity of research streams and perspectives from neighbouring disciplines.
The Eu-SPRI Forum ECC: “Interdisciplinarity in the Study of the Dynamics of Science, Technology and Innovation” is a two-day event for PhD students and young scholars interested in the broad field of Science, Technology and Innovation. The conference will stretch over two days of presentations and intense debates with junior and senior scholars. Participants will have the opportunity to present their research and receive feedback from young and experienced scholars in the field. Thus, we invite PhD students and young scholars to submit their work related (but not limited), to the following topics:
- Geography and Innovation
- Creation, Transfer and Use of Knowledge
- Science and Society. New challenges
- Social networks, Social Capital and Innovation
- Science and Technology Policies. Evaluation and Governance
- Management of Innovation in Organizations
Confirmed speakers
- David Hammerstein - Member of the European Parliament
- Philippe Larédo - Université Paris-Est and University of Manchester
- Ismael Rafols - INGENIO (CSIC-UPV); SPRU (University of Sussex)
- Ammon Salter - School of Management (University of Bath)
- Wolfgang Sofka – SMG ( Copenhagen Business School)
Audience
The Eu-SPRI Forum ECC will offer a platform for international networking for around 30 young academic researchers. Participation from PhD students, who develop their research in the areas of Science, Technology and Innovation, is particularly encouraged. Selection will be based upon academic quality of submitted extended abstract and the candidate’s CV. The fit of the proposal to the overall Conference theme and the involvement of multi-disciplinarily perspectives will be given special importance. PhD students, whose abstracts are accepted, will be also required to submit a full paper (around 5,000 words) two weeks before the Conference.
