PhD in project management and a background on engineering and political science, he is Tenured Professor at the Universitat Politècnica de València. His research has focused on the study of urban sustainability transitions with a focus on planning, innovation and governance processes. He understands university research as a process that in itself has the potential to contribute to advance the transformation of the contemporary city through action-research dynamics and the co-production of knowledge through dialogue, relexivity and learning among diverse actors. His research has been published in journals such as Environmental Innovation and Societal Transitions, Journal of Cleaner Production, Urban Transformations, Sustainability, International Journal of Urban and Regional Research, Habitat International, Sustainable Development, International Development Planning Review or Journal of International Development. His main teaching subjects have been focused on issues related to development processes, project design and management and qualitative research methodologies.
He has been General Coordinator of Urban Strategies and Sustainable Agenda in the Mayor's Office of València City Council with a direct responsibiliti on the València 2030 Urban Strategy, the València 2030 Climate Mission, the València Green Capital 2024 and the access to EU Next Generation funds. He has previously been 2nd Deputy Mayor of Valencia City Council in the Govern de la Nau and councillor responsible for citizen participation, innovation and climate change, as well as vice-president of the foundation LAS NAVES, the centre for urban innovation of the city of Valencia, and of the Climate and Energy Foundation.
